All Kinds of Everyone

It never ceases to amaze me the variety of people we have joining us on our trips around Donegal Bay here on the Donegal Bay Waterbus. Just taking the last week for an example the mix of people we have had travelling with us is truely amazing.

Donegal Bay Waterbus Greets the World
The Donegal Bay Waterbus is truely international

On booking their tickets here in the offices of the Waterbus I ask people for their nationality so that the entertainer / guide on board can reference his narration in their direction and this week alone we have had the following nationalities; Irish, English, Welsh, Scottish, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, American, Canadian, Polish, Morocian, Lituanian, Latvian and a very nice couple from Uruguay.

Its great to see them all get on so well when they become citizens of the Donegal Bay Waterbus for our 75 minute cruise. The language of inetrest and enjoyment of the sights and sounds becomes the universal tongue and the smiles on their faces makes them all look the same. It would be very hard to pinpoint their “real world” origins as they watch the seals sunning themselves on Seal Island or as their clap their hands and sing The Wild Rover with Eamon and Gerry on the inward journey.

With groups always looking for new things to do in Donegal it is not only  nationalities that are varied but also the variety of special interest or common interest groups that travel from their hotels in Donegal Town, Bundoran, Sligo or Letterkenny to sail with us.

One such group was the Mercedes Benz Owners Club of Ireland who travelled with us last Friday. They were staying in The Millpark Hotel here in Donegal Town and the fact that they parked a few of their marvelous classic Mercedes Benz on the pier added a little sparkle to the evening and brought many people down onto the quayside for a better look at their prized machines.

Here are just a few of them

(I”d be delighted if someone could furnish me with the models and year of the cars pictured above)

Despite owning such beautiful cars they all agreed that our Donegal Bay Waterbus was the most comfortable, spacious and welcoming vehicle of the evening. (I think maybe the fact that it was the only one with a full bar, bathrooms and live entertainment may have had something to do with that.)

Among the many other groups we catered for this week was the Irish National Widows Association. Having travelled up from the Great Northern Hotel in Bundoran where they were holding their annual conference they really enjoyed their cruise with us. Many vowed to return with their families and we look forward to seeing them all again.

The passengers on our first sunset cruise of the year were treated to flat calm waters on Donegal Bay this week and the photographs below give you just a taste of what they saw on a beautiful evening in April

So as we sail towards the busier days of our Irish summer we can be sure that if the United Nations requires a new base of operations we here on The Donegal Bay Waterbus can provide it.

There are very few activities in Donegal which will appeal to young and old, familes, couples and individuals, Irish or overseas visitors and almost every special interest group you can think of but we firmly believe that the waterbus is one such attraction which suits them all. So, as you are one of the above it will suit you too.

We look forward to seeing all of you.
